  SPONDYLOSIS

Spondylosis is a degenerative joint disease of the spine. The discs in between the vertebrae become damaged and this leads to the growth of bony spurs. Eventually these 'spurs' form a 'bridge' between the vertebrae. These can weld together forming a long row, restricting flexibility. The spine may become immobilized in a specific area. For a lot of dogs Spondylosis causes no pain in the affected area but can lead to overcompensation in other areas of their body, especially in the back legs, front legs, neck and other areas of the spine.
