 OSTEOARTHRITIS

Osteoarthritis is the degeneration of cartilage at a joint. The cartilage, which is the 'cushion' in the joint breaks down and this leads to the growth of bony spikes which in turn leads to swelling of the surrounding membrane. This causes pain and a decrease in mobility.

It most commonly affects weight-bearing joints e.g. hips, knees, lower back, elbows and wrists and is the most common form of canine arthritis.
